Why is it, do you suppose...
Sep. 11th, 2006 07:17 pmthat nonwriters (not the ones with a clue, mind you) upon learning that one is a writer often feel compelled to ask one of 2 things, usually one right after another:
1. Are you published?
2. Have you ever had writer's block?
The first question I can kind of see, unless of course the writer in question is feeling sensitive about the whole thing and perhaps riding the rejection wave.
The second one baffles me. You know they don't really want to hear about the devastating depression/family disaster/escaped pet/failed love affair/health condition that may have caused you to stop writing. So what is it they really want to hear? "Why yes, I did, but I got over it?"
And thus you learn how I ended last week. :-)
