I just did 3 events in a week. Plus OT at my day job. Plus finishing the edits to the galleys of my novel. I am, not surprisingly, a bit toasty. I'm starting to have a vague inkling of what it must be like to be on a full-fledged book tour--while juggling a job and family. The week began with Marscon, as mentioned in previous entries. Galley edits got done late Monday, Then I read at DreamHaven on Wedesday, which was fun. Yesterday's event was the Women's History Month Author Event at Quatrefoil Library. Quatrefoil is the Twin Cities LGBTQ library; they have a good collection of books, movies and historical materials. For a mere $35 a year, you can check out some great stuff. And they take donations and volunteers, just saying. They also organize readings like yesterday's.

Which was pretty damn cool, from both a writer and reader perspective, if I may be so bold. Mystery author Linda Morganstein read from a new work in progress, which may or may not turn out to be a mystery. Mystery phenom Ellen Hart read a deeply moving essay about coming out to her deeply conservative mother about writing mysteries as well as being a lesbian. Essayist and romance author (and shepherd) Catherine Friend read from her latest memoir, "Sheepish." Fantasy, romance and sf author Lyda Morehouse read a fun excerpt from her forthcoming novel, which I believe is called "Warehouse 13," but double check her blog or website to be sure. Mystery writer Jessie Chandler read hilarious excerpts from her mystery series set in the Twin Cities (Jessie and I will be combining forces for a joint book release at Magers and Quinn Bookstore in June, about which more later). I, of course, read from 'Silver Moon." We had an audience of about 24 or so, which is small compared to the crowds that Ellen or Catherine Friend normally draw. All I can say is that those of you who didn't make it missed out on a fine bunch of readings, and you should check out all of these authors at the earliest opportunity.

For this week, I get to pull together a blog interview for my pal and fellow author Gavin Atlas (read his books!) for Out in Print and do a press release for my reading with Jessie. I might also try to pull something together to submit for an anthology while I'm at it but we'll have to see how things go.
